Dr. David J. Ewing is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), within the College of Engineering. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University (2011) and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Pensacola Christian College (2005). His career includes roles as a teaching assistant, researcher, and instructor at UTA and Clemson University.
Research & Teaching: Ewing focuses on engineering education innovation, particularly in first-year student success and active learning methods like SCALE-UP. His work emphasizes academic support programs, retention strategies, and thermal systems research involving nanofluids and vehicle payloads. He teaches courses such as ENGR 1250/1251 (Problem Solving in Engineering) and UNIV-EN 1131 (Student Success).
