David Huyck serves Carleton College in dual capacities as a Senior Web Application Developer in Information Technology Services and as a Part-Time Lecturer teaching Karate (PE 142). Since joining Carleton in 2015/2016, he has made significant contributions to the institution's digital infrastructure while recently expanding his role into physical education instruction.

Huyck specializes in web technologies including PHP, JavaScript, CSS variants, WebPack, Docker, and various database systems. His technical expertise has been instrumental in migrating Carleton's entire website ecosystem from Reason CMS to WordPress, a multi-year project that began with the award-winning Admissions website in 2018 and concluded in 2023.
Beginning in fall 2024, Huyck started teaching Karate PE courses through Spring 2026, bringing his martial arts expertise to campus. He began training Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate in 2016 under Professor Emeritus Bob Dobrow, earned his Sho-Dan (first-degree black belt) in 2023, and advanced to Ni-Dan (second-degree) in 2025.
