Rev. David Hollenbach, S.J., is the Pedro Arrupe Distinguished Research Professor at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and an affiliated professor in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies. His research focuses on human rights, religious and ethical responses to crises, and Catholic social thought in political contexts.

Hollenbach’s work spans Catholic social teaching, refugee rights, and global ethics, with a particular emphasis on displaced persons and interfaith dialogue. His recent book (2024) explores human rights in a divided world through Catholicism.
He has collaborated with organizations like the Jesuit Refugee Service and held positions at Boston College and the Kellogg Institute. Awards include the Civitas Dei Medal and the John Courtney Murray Award.
