Prof. David Harel is a faculty member at The Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel since 1980, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. He served as Dean of this faculty and currently holds the position of Vice President at the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
His research spans Logic and Computability, Software Engineering, Biological Systems Modeling, and Odor Reproduction. He is renowned for inventing Statecharts and co-inventing Live Sequence Charts, with influential books including Algorithmics: The Spirit of Computing and Come, Let's Play: Scenario-Based Programming Using LSCs and the Play-Engine.
