David H. Wagner is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Houston. His research focuses on the theory of nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws and their applications to combustion, particularly detonation waves. He investigates instability mechanisms in detonation waves and their oscillatory behavior using numerical methods like the Sanders-Weiser staggered grid scheme.
His work bridges mathematical analysis and physical phenomena, with contributions to detonation dynamics, viscous structure modeling, and hyperelastic material equations. He has published extensively on topics including entropy solutions in reacting flows and conservation law formulations.
Prof. Wagner is an active cyclist, participating in the BP MS-150 Houston to Austin ride for multiple sclerosis research. He is affiliated with Christ the Lord Lutheran Church and has endorsed medical professionals in orthopedic care.
