David H. Schanzer is a Professor of the Practice at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy and Director of the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security. He has held academic roles since 2005, including Associate Professor of the Practice (2009-2018) and Director of the Triangle Center (2008-2024). His research focuses on counterterrorism strategies, homeland security policy, and community policing approaches to prevent violent extremism. He earned a J.D. from Harvard University in 1989.
