David H. Rivier

David H. Rivier is an Associate Professor of Cell & Developmental Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, affiliated with the School of Molecular & Cellular Biology. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry/Biology from the University of the Pacific, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Oregon, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of California-Berkeley. His research focuses on protein-nucleic acid interactions, epigenetic silencing mechanisms in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and innovative approaches to undergraduate education in the life sciences.

His research interests include understanding the molecular basis of silencing at yeast loci, DNA replication origins, and the roles of proteins like Ku in transcriptional regulation. Rivier has been recognized for his teaching excellence, receiving the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences' Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. He teaches courses on cellular development (MCB 252) and genetics/genomics (MCB 317).
