معرفی
David H. Reitze is a Research Professor of Physics and Executive Director of the LIGO Project at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He holds a B.A. from Northwestern University (1983) and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin (1993). Previously, he served as a Professor at the University of Florida since 1998 and held multiple roles at Caltech, including Visiting Associate (1996–97, 2000, 2003, 2007–11), Senior Research Associate (2011–16), and Executive Director of LIGO (2011–26).
His research focuses on gravitational wave astronomy, experimental physics, and astrophysics, with a central role in the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) project. This collaboration has revolutionized observational astronomy through the detection of gravitational waves, confirming key predictions of Einstein's theory of general relativity.
Reitze's academic journey includes extensive contributions to detector technology and interdisciplinary astrophysics. While specific grants or awards are not listed here, his leadership in LIGO underscores his impact on global scientific collaboration and experimental physics advancements.
