David Goldbaum is an Associate Professor in the Economics Discipline Group at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Business School. He joined UTS in 2007 and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1996). His research focuses on economic models with learning and adaptation, financial markets, social network formation, and bounded rationality. He has supervised HDR (Higher Degree by Research) students and contributed to funded projects like the ARC Linkage grant on experimental social networks.
His work explores how agents adapt behaviors, form networks, and influence collective outcomes. Key themes include leader emergence in social systems, market instability from heterogeneous strategies, and information dissemination effects. Recent studies analyze false leader dynamics, customized return policies in retail, and competitive disclosure strategies.
Goldbaum has served on conference organizing committees, reviewed for journals like Economic Modelling and Computational Economics, and presented at institutions like Brandeis University. He teaches Macroeconomics and Financial Economics, emphasizing applied theory and computational methods.
