Dr. David Glahn is an Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Professor of Psychology at Yale University, affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. He leads the Glahn Lab and co-directs the Neurocognition, Neurocomputation and Neurogenetics (n3) Division and the Affective Disorders and Psychosis (ADAPTING) lab at the Olin Neuropsychiatry Research Center. His research focuses on discovering genetic and neuroimaging endophenotypes for psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression. He supervises an 11-member research team and collaborates internationally.
Education: Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (University of Pennsylvania, 2000), postdoc at UCLA, and faculty roles at UT Health Science Center San Antonio (2002–2008). He holds an MA in Psychology from Yale (2015) and prior degrees from Drexel and University of Pennsylvania.
Research interests include psychiatric genetics, neuroimaging biomarkers, and the genetic architecture of mental illnesses. Notable awards include the Joel Elkes Research Award (2016), Theodore Reich Award (2011), and multiple NARSAD grants. His lab explores polygenic risk scores, brain structural asymmetries, and microbiome links to psychosis.
Recent work includes studies on polygenic risk specificity in psychiatry, neuroimaging genetics, and early-onset psychosis characterization. He leads clinical trials like the Teen Brain and Behavior Study, investigating adolescent brain development.
