David Gelb is an Associate Professor at York University's School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD), specializing in Design. He holds an MEd from the University of Toronto and focuses on integrating technology in pedagogy with emphases on ethical interfaces, collaborative design practices, and interaction design history. His work includes co-leading the Interactive Art + Design Learning Modules (funded by the Shared Ontario Course Fund) involving 10 researchers across the province, and the multi-year project Looking to the Future: Building State-of-the-Art eLearning in AMPD. He co-organized the 2018 Edge Effects conference on digitally engaged learning and co-authored The Design Process is a Research Process: Students and the Ethics of Inquiry (Bloomsbury Academic, 2020).
His teaching spans graduate and undergraduate levels, emphasizing user interface development, design research methods, and interaction design theory. He actively explores how technology can enhance learning environments while addressing ethical considerations in design education.
