David Fredriksson

David Fredriksson is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering and the School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), where he joined in August 2022. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Sustainable Seafood Systems, leveraging over two decades of experience in ocean engineering for aquaculture systems.

Recent publications highlight his focus on computational fluid dynamics for current velocity fields, kelp aquaculture for carbon dioxide removal, and scalable nursery designs. His work spans offshore engineering, biofouling impacts on net panels, and finite element modeling of aquaculture structures.

He has secured funding from agencies like the Department of Energy, World Wildlife Fund, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. His courses include advanced projects and design of recirculating aquaculture systems.

As Director of the Center for Sustainable Seafood Systems, he emphasizes sustainable production methods and educational programs. His career combines field measurements, physical modeling, and computational simulations to solve aquaculture engineering challenges.
