David Fillmore serves as Professor of Lighting Design and Associate Chair of the Department of Theatre within the College of Arts + Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With over two decades of professional experience, he has created more than 200 designs for dance and theatre productions across national and international stages.
His educational background includes an M.F.A. in Scenic and Lighting Design from Northwestern University and a B.A. in Theatre from The University of Minnesota, Moorhead. Notable career highlights encompass the World Premiere of My Way (2000), award-winning productions of Wit (2000), and the international debut of The Laramie Project in Tours, France (2006).
Professor Fillmore's creative work focuses on lighting design integration for theatrical and dance performances, evidenced by his fellowship as Distinguished Visiting Professor of Lighting for Dance at Colorado College (2011). His accolades include seven Metrolina Theatre Association Awards and the 2011 Charlotte Theatre Award for Best Lighting Designer.
