David Fewer serves as General Counsel of the Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy & Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC), an affiliate of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, and holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. With over 25 years of legal experience specializing in intellectual property and technology law, he has engaged in high-level litigation across Canadian courts, including multiple appearances before the Supreme Court of Canada.
Education: He earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), and Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Toronto, with graduate work focusing on intellectual property policy and constitutional applications to copyright law.
Research and Advocacy: His work bridges legal theory and practice, emphasizing public interest technology law. He frequently contributes to media commentary on intellectual property, digital rights, and technology governance. His scholarship addresses Charter implications in copyright law and emerging issues in tech policy.
