Dr. David Ferras Segura is a Senior Researcher at the Department of Mining and Civil Engineering, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (2016) from a joint doctoral initiative between EPFL (Switzerland) and Technical University of Lisbon, and has a strong academic background in hydroinformatics and civil engineering.
His research focuses on numerical and experimental modeling of hydraulic transients, with applications in water distribution systems, hydropower engineering, and water-energy nexus challenges. He actively contributes to the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) as chair of the Education Committee and vice-chair of the Working Group on Transient Flows.
Notable recognitions include the John F. Kennedy Award (2015) from IAHR and the prestigious Beatriz Galindo Fellowship. He teaches advanced courses in civil engineering, including fluid dynamics, BIM modeling, and renewable energy systems.
