David Feldman is an Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of English Law and Emeritus Fellow of Downing College at the University of Cambridge. He holds honorary titles including KC (Hon) and LLD (Hon, Bristol), and is a Fellow of the British Academy and the Royal Society of Arts. His career spans academia, judiciary, and policy-making, with roles such as Judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (2002–10) and Legal Adviser to the UK Parliament's Joint Select Committee on Human Rights (2000–04). He has authored over 30 books and 200 articles on public law, constitutional law, and human rights. His research focuses on the interplay between law and politics, judicial review, and international human rights frameworks.
Education: Studied at Exeter College, Oxford (1972–76). Academic appointments include Lecturer and Reader at the University of Bristol (1976–89), Barber Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Birmingham (1992–2000), and Director of the Centre for Public Law at Cambridge (2016–18). He has held visiting fellowships at the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne.
Research Interests: Feldman's work explores constitutional principles, human rights litigation, separation of powers, and the impact of international law on domestic systems. Notable contributions include analyses of the Human Rights Act 1998, Brexit's constitutional implications, and comparative constitutional frameworks.
