David Espinosa is an Assistant Professor of History at Rhode Island College, where he has taught since 1997. His academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1997.
Dr. Espinosa's research focuses on higher education and Church-State relations in modern Mexico. His notable work includes the 2003 article "Restoring Christian Social Order": The Mexican Catholic Youth Association (1913-1932)" in The Americas, and he is currently working on a manuscript titled Jesuit Higher Education in Post-Revolutionary Mexico. His teaching spans Modern Latin American History, Colonial Latin American History, Amerindians in Latin American History, Western Civilization, and Historical Methods.
His scholarship intersects disciplines such as Religious Studies, Political Science, and Social History, with a focus on ideological movements and institutional development in 20th-century Mexico. He also contributes to the General Education Honors Program at Rhode Island College.
