David Dzombak is a Professor and former Department Head (2013-2022) in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, focusing on water quality engineering, water resource sustainability, and energy-environment issues.
Education: PhD from MIT (1986), MS and BS from Carnegie Mellon, BA in Mathematics from Saint Vincent College.
Research focuses on:
- Sustainable water supply systems
- Climate change adaptation for infrastructure
- Metals recycling and circular economy
- Groundwater contamination remediation
- Drinking water quality management
His publications address climate modeling for infrastructure planning, water distribution system management, resource recovery techniques, and environmental policy development. Recent work examines climate projection applications in engineering and metals recycling for emissions reduction.
