David Dye is a Professor of Metallurgy in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London, UK. He leads research on fatigue, micromechanics, and design of aerospace and reactor materials, particularly superalloys, titanium, NiTi, TWIP steels, and zirconium. His work spans alloy design to failure analysis using advanced techniques like TEM, synchrotron diffraction, and XFEL. He collaborates with Rolls-Royce and the nuclear sector to advance safer, lower-emission transport and energy systems.
Education: PhD and undergraduate degree from Cambridge University in metallurgy, focusing on nickel-based superalloy weldability. Prior experience includes neutron spectroscopy at Chalk River, Canada.
