David Deiros

David Deiros is a Lecturer in the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), where he teaches General Chemistry. Effective May 2025, he will assume the role of Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Engagement, joining the athletics senior leadership team. His extensive FGCU career includes founding the softball program and serving 23 seasons as head coach until his 2024 retirement from coaching, during which he achieved 779 wins and multiple conference titles.

Education:

• BS in Chemistry, University of South Florida (1989)
• MS in Analytical Chemistry, University of Miami

Research Interests: Deiros' academic focus centers on General Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, informed by his educational background and current teaching responsibilities in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Awards:

• FGCU Administrative and Professional Employee of the Year (2002-03)

Administrative & Teaching Background: He previously served as FGCU's athletics business manager and chemistry instructor while coaching. His prior experience includes teaching chemistry/physics at Lely High School and Gulf Coast High School, plus adjunct chemistry instruction at Edison State College.
