David D. Chung

David D. Chung serves as Professor-in-Residence in Orthodontics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine, a position he assumed in summer 2024. Previously, he spent 20 years as Program Director of Orthodontics at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, where he developed interdisciplinary conferences for orthognathic surgery and cleft lip/palate treatment.

His educational background includes:

• Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Columbia University
• Certificate of Specialization in Orthodontics from Eastman Institute of Oral Health, University of Rochester
• Master of Science in Biochemistry from University of Rochester

Dr. Chung's research focuses on biochemical signal modulation of mechanosensitive receptors in bone and cartilage cells, with planned investigations at UNLV into orthodontic biomechanics. He actively contributes to the field as a reviewer for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and Angle Orthodontist.

His teaching responsibilities encompass research methods for first-year orthodontic/pediatric residents and craniofacial orthodontics for second-year residents. At Maimonides, he directed comprehensive clinical instruction, resident research guidance, and multi-disciplinary team coordination for complex craniofacial cases.

Professional recognition includes diplomate status from the American Board of Orthodontics, reflecting advanced clinical expertise in the specialty.
