Dr David Corbet is a Sessional Lecturer in the Department of Media and Communications at The University of Sydney (School of Art, Communications and Language), also teaching at UNSW Sydney. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and an MFA from UNSW. His expertise spans graphic communication, spatial/experience design, and art/design history.
Research Interests: Global exhibition histories, decolonial museology, art memorialization in the global south, counter-cultural graphic communication, public art, urban design, LGBTQI perspectives in art, Indigenous art/design, and peace/conflict studies. Current projects include a Palgrave Macmillan book on trauma, art, and memory in postcolonial contexts, and international exhibition projects on translocal creative practices.
Publications: Includes 2024's Trauma, Art and Memory in the Postcolony, multiple journal contributions in Eyeline, and exhibition catalogues. Member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics).
Professional Activities: Founder of a design/art consultancy, curator of exhibitions like The Museum of Dissensus, and contributor to conferences/workshops globally. Conducts field research in Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Southern Africa, and the Middle East.
