David Cleveland is a Research Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He holds an M.S. in Genetics and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Anthropology from the University of Arizona. His work focuses on sustainable agrifood systems, climate change mitigation, and the intersection of local food systems with nutrition and environmental justice.
Key research areas include plant breeding, crop genetic diversity conservation, and collaboration between farmers and scientists.
