David Cimasoni

David Cimasoni is a Senior Lecturer and researcher at the Mathematics Section of the University of Geneva since September 2010. He was previously a Heinz Hopf Lecturer at ETH Zurich (2007-2010) and held postdoctoral positions funded by the Swiss NSF. Born in Geneva, he obtained his Master (1998) and PhD (2002) at the University of Geneva under Claude Weber, with a semester at Brandeis University working with Jerry Levine.

His research focuses on low-dimensional topology and mathematical physics, particularly invariants of knots and links (e.g., Alexander polynomial, Levine-Tristram signature) and applications of topological methods to statistical physics models like the dimer and Ising models. His work bridges geometric topology with combinatorial and statistical approaches, often collaborating with experts such as Vladimir Turaev, Nicolai Reshetikhin, and Paul Turner.

Recent publications highlight his expertise in topological invariants and discrete models, including 2024 papers on Klein bottle Ising models and Kashaev signature conjectures. Earlier key contributions (2007-2023) explore dimer models on non-orientable surfaces, Lagrangian tangle representations, and generalized link signatures.
