David Cann

David Cann is Professor in the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University, with joint affiliation to the Materials Science Graduate Program. His research examines electronic and dielectric properties of functional ceramics.

Research encompasses piezoelectric sensors, transparent conductors, energy storage capacitors, and solid-state phase transformations in ceramic systems. Applications span renewable energy, electronics, and sensor technologies. Previously held faculty positions at Iowa State University.

Honored with NSF CAREER Award and OSU College of Engineering Research Award. Serves as Editor for Journal of Materials Science, overseeing publications in materials synthesis and characterization.
