David C. Beck

David C. Beck is the Interim Dean and Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS). He has held multiple inaugural leadership roles, including founding Chair of the Department of PA Studies, Executive Vice Dean, and Vice Dean of SHRS. He was the first faculty member hired for the PA program at Pitt in 2009 and has been central to its growth and innovation.

His educational background includes a Doctor of Education (EdD) from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master of Physician Assistant Science and Bachelor of Science from Saint Francis University.

Dr. Beck’s research and professional interests focus on quality and process improvement in health care education, professional development of health care practitioners, and advancing value-based care through leadership and quality improvement (QI) initiatives. He has championed the expansion of continuing education for PAs, notably through the development of the online Doctor of PA Studies (DPAS) program, which emphasizes research-based improvements in patient care and practice.
