David Burnes is a Professor at the University of Toronto’s Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and holds the Canada Research Chair on Older Adult Mistreatment Prevention. He earned his Ph.D. in Gerontology from Columbia University. His research focuses on elder abuse prevention, intervention strategies, and outcome measurement. Burnes has published extensively in top journals like The Gerontologist and collaborates with global organizations such as the World Health Organization and National Institutes of Health.
