David Brandwein

Dr. David Brandwein is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Advanced Studies in Psychology at Kean University's College of Health Professions and Human Services. He serves as Associate Director of Clinical Training and teaches graduate-level courses in clinical and school psychology, supervising student research in standardized assessment methodologies. Dr. Brandwein also functions as an Expert Witness in New Jersey courts, specializing in clinical psychology and parent-child bonding evaluations.

Dr. Brandwein's research focuses on forensic psychological assessment applications in civil and criminal court matters, particularly examining score patterns in standardized instruments like CAPI, MMPI-3, and PAI that predict successful resolution of custody cases and disability claims. He also leads a clinic evaluating adult learning disabilities under ADA guidelines, investigating comorbid mental health conditions and appropriate academic accommodations.

Current university service includes participation in the New Jersey Psychological Association forensic workgroup and the Association of Family and Conciliatory Courts. The Adult Assessment program he coordinates provides free psychological evaluations to academic and local communities while serving as a research platform with over 1,000 case records.
