David Boud is a Deakin Distinguished Professor and Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning at Deakin University. He holds dual appointments in the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and the Research for Educational Impact strategic research centre. His work focuses on educational assessment, feedback literacy, and digital learning innovations in higher education.
Research Interests: Boud's research spans educational assessment design, feedback mechanisms, evaluative judgment, and the integration of technology in learning. He emphasizes authentic assessment practices and student-centered feedback literacy development.
Grants & Collaborations: Boud has led major grants including the ARC-funded 'Feedback literacy for effective learning' (2023-2026) and 'Authentic assessment training for university teachers' (2024). He collaborates internationally on projects involving child-witness interviewing pedagogy and workplace learning.
Supervision: Currently supervising 9 doctoral students researching topics like feedback engagement in underperforming students, feedback literacy in EAL/D contexts, and curriculum design for evaluative judgment development. Completed 7 PhDs focusing on assessment practices and online learning strategies.
