David Bole is a Professor and Head of the Department of Human Geography at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU), with a focus on economic and urban geography. He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Ljubljana and has contributed extensively to research on post-industrial transitions, daily mobility, and cultural industries.

His research spans economic geography (cultural industries, urban-rural dynamics), post-industrialism, transport-land use interactions, and social innovation in industrial towns. Bole's publications highlight trends in post-socialist urbanization and the role of industrial heritage in contemporary development. His work has been recognized with awards such as the Melik Award (2011) and the Slovenian Research Agency’s excellence award (2022).
