David Bishop

David Bishop is an Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Technology Sydney's School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. His research focuses on advanced analytical techniques, including hyphenation to ICP-MS, HPLC, and laser ablation, applied to biological and environmental challenges. Key areas include metallomics, elemental bioimaging, and immuno-mass spectrometry. He has received awards such as the Fulbright Scholarship and ARC DECRA for developing novel analytical methods in membrane protein quantification. Current ARC funding supports work on quantitative immuno-mass spectrometry imaging. Dr. Bishop teaches Analytical Chemistry at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and leads the Masters of Science program in Analytical Chemical Technologies.

His funded research includes environmental contaminant analysis, antibody-metal conjugates for imaging, and cyanotoxin detection. Collaborative projects span defense innovation, environmental science, and biomedical applications through the Elemental Bio-Imaging Facility (EBiF). Notable contributions include studies on metal distributions in neurological tissues and coral elementomes.
