David Badre is a Professor of Cognitive and Psychological Sciences at Brown University and has served as Department Chair since 2022. His research focuses on the cognitive neuroscience of cognitive control, examining how the brain translates goals into actions using methods like fMRI, EEG, and computational modeling. He is affiliated with the Carney Institute for Brain Science and the Neuroscience Graduate Program, and has held editorial roles for journals such as eLife and Psychological Science.
- 2005: PhD in Neuroscience, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- 2000: BS in Psychology, University of Michigan
Badre's work spans cognitive control, prefrontal cortex organization, and working memory dynamics, often integrating fMRI and computational approaches. His recent articles highlight advances in neural decoding, reward prediction errors, and connectometry, reflecting a focus on hierarchical behavior and memory systems.
Scientific honors include the Brown University Mid-Career Research Achievement Award (2022), James S. McDonnell Scholar Award, and Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship. He has also received teaching recognition, including the Walle Nauta Award.
- Fellow, Association for Psychological Science (2021)
- PROSE Award Finalist, Association of American Publishers (2020)
- Cognitive Neuroscience Society Young Investigator Award (2014)
His lab, funded by the NIH and Office of Naval Research, explores human error neuroscience and neural mechanisms of cognitive deficits in neurological conditions.
