David B Yaden is a Professor at the University of Arizona's College of Education, affiliated with the Department of Language, Reading & Culture, Department of Teaching, Learning & Sociocultural Studies, and the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program in Second Language Acquisition & Teaching. As Director of the Eye-Movement Miscue Analysis Laboratory and Co-Director of the Research Group on Child Development, Research and Policy, his work focuses on early childhood literacy, biliteracy acquisition, and family literacy.
- Education: Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma
- Leadership: Directed statewide evaluations of Arizona’s First Things First initiative; instrumental in establishing an Early Childhood Development Center
- Honors: 2022 Jewell M. Lewis Distinguished Professor in Literacy; former President of the Literacy Research Association
His research emphasizes improving literacy outcomes for linguistically and culturally diverse children, including collaborations on curriculum development for Spanish-speaking preschoolers in Los Angeles. Dr. Yaden co-edits the Journal of Literacy Research and manages the Goodman Archive at the University of Arizona Libraries Special Collections.
