David Anderson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at The Ohio State University (OSU), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on algebraic geometry and combinatorics, with a particular emphasis on equivariant cohomology, Schubert calculus, degeneracy loci, and K-theory. He earned his PhD from the University of Michigan (2009) and a B.A. from Columbia University (2002).
He has held postdoctoral positions at IMPA (Brazil), Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu (France), and the University of Washington. His grants include an NSF CAREER Award ($400,000, 2020–2025) and a Simons-CRM Professorship (2023–2024). He authored Equivariant Cohomology in Algebraic Geometry (Cambridge, 2023) and edited Facets of Algebraic Geometry (2022).
Anderson advises PhD students in algebraic geometry and combinatorics, including Chen Chen (expected 2023) and Ian Cavey (2023). He teaches advanced courses like Algebraic Geometry and Equivariant Cohomology, and organizes workshops such as the Midwest Workshop on Schubert Calculus. His research spans topics like toric degenerations, Okounkov bodies, and geometric Satake correspondence.
