David A. Sonenshein is a distinguished Professor of Law at Temple University School of Law, holding the I. Herman Stern Professorship since 1992. He previously held the Lyle T. Alverson Professorship at George Washington University Law School and taught at Boston University and DePaul University. His expertise spans Civil Procedure, Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, and Trial Advocacy. Sonenshein has been recognized as an exceptional educator, winning six teaching awards including Temple’s Great Teacher Award (2007) and the Lindback Award (2004).
He earned his J.D. from New York University and B.A. from Cornell University. His research focuses on evidence law and judicial processes, with notable contributions to the Principles of Evidence casebook and numerous articles on hearsay exceptions, criminal procedure, and appellate advocacy. He also serves as a trainer for federal judges and leading law firms through the American Institute for Law Training, specializing in trial advocacy and deposition skills.
