David A. Micklos

David A. Micklos is the Executive Director of the Dolan DNA Learning Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, with a master's degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland (1982) and an honoris causa Doctor of Science (2009). He bridges biology, journalism, education, and social sciences, focusing on public science literacy and biotechnology education.

His research interests include DNA barcoding, cyberinfrastructure for open science, and genomics education. Recent articles address low-cost DNA extraction methods, cloud-based genomic data analysis (via CyVerse), and biodiversity assessment through citizen science. These works reflect his commitment to democratizing science education.
