David A. Landry is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Health Sciences, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (Faculty of Medicine). He holds a PhD in Animal Science from Université Laval (2018), an MSc in Biology (2014) and a BSc in Biology (2012), both from Université de Moncton. His research focuses on the developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD), particularly female reproductive health, ovarian aging, and reproductive cancers. His lab investigates ovarian fibrosis’s role in cancer risk, cannabis’s impact on female reproduction, and epigenetic mechanisms in conditions like PCOS.
His educational background includes postdoctoral training at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (2022), where he studied ovarian fibrosis and chromatin remodeling’s role in fertility. His work bridges reproductive biology, endocrinology, and oncology, with a focus on translational strategies to improve women’s health outcomes. Landry is Acadian and a member of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh Takuhikan First Nation, emphasizing community-rooted research.
Research interests span steroidogenesis, oocyte quality, cannabinoid effects, and epigenetic regulation in reproductive health. The lab’s recent efforts explore metformin’s role in preventing ovarian fibrosis and cannabis’s therapeutic potential for PCOS and cancer prevention. His studies often use mouse models and collaborate with veterinary and clinical sectors to address aging-related reproductive challenges.
Landry supervises graduate students and collaborates with institutions like the Canadian cattle industry to optimize egg quality in livestock and humans. His work is funded through grants focusing on translational medicine and reproductive health innovations. He leads the Reproduction, Endocrinology, and Cancer (REC) Research Laboratory, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to female reproductive health and healthy aging.
