Dave Porter is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism and Employability Lead at Manchester Metropolitan University's Department of Journalism. His research focuses on how immigrant/refugee communities in the UK use community journalism to challenge mainstream media narratives, stemming from his work with the Somali community in Manchester. He co-authored Online and Social Media Law (2019) and advises on media law through his NCTJ board membership.
