Dave Beck is a Professor of Game Design and serves as Director and Associate Dean of the University of Wisconsin-Stout School of Art & Design, the largest art and design program in the upper Midwest. He founded the nationally ranked B.F.A. Game Design & Development program and holds an M.F.A. in Sculpture & Extended Media from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.A. in Studio Art, and a B.A. in Studio Arts & Ancient Studies from St. Olaf College.
His research focuses on interactive experiences blending cultural narratives with environmental themes, reflected in projects like the award-winning board game Distilled and the Steam-released video game Tombeaux. His work has been featured in the New York Times, National Geographic, and Science journal, and he is the owner of board game company Paverson Games.
