Professor Dauvit Broun is a distinguished academic specializing in medieval Scottish history at the University of Glasgow's Department of History. His research focuses on non-literary sources such as charters, chronicles, and manuscripts, emphasizing methodologies like textual criticism and palaeography to explore medieval Scottish society, identity, and governance. He is renowned for pioneering digital humanities initiatives, including the People of Medieval Scotland 1093–1314 and Models of Authority databases, which enhance accessibility to historical sources.
