Daryl A. Bosco

Dr. Daryl A. Bosco is a Professor and Associate Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Neurology at UMass Chan Medical School, Worcester, Massachusetts. She was honored with the inaugural Paul J. DiMare Chair in Neurodegenerative Disease in 2024.

• Education: PhD in Bio-Organic Chemistry from Brandeis University; Postdoctoral Fellowship at Scripps Research Institute; Instructor at Harvard Medical School.

Research Interests: The Bosco laboratory investigates mechanisms underlying ALS and related disorders like frontotemporal dementia, focusing on the roles of stress, traumatic brain injury, and neuroinflammation in disease progression. Current projects explore protein misfolding, neurodegenerative pathways, and biomarker discovery through proteomics and biochemistry.

Advising & Collaborations: Dr. Bosco has mentored numerous doctoral, master’s, and graduate students, including alumni now at AbbVie, Apellis Pharmaceuticals, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Her lab collaborates with institutions like Harvard Medical School and Sanofi Inc.

Labs & Teams: The Bosco Lab at UMass Chan Medical School focuses on ALS and neurodegenerative diseases, with current members studying TDP-43/FUS targets, microglia dysfunction, and stress response mechanisms. The lab partners with The Angel Fund for ALS Research.
