Darwin Han-Lin Tsen is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Chinese Language Coordinator in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University, within the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on modern and contemporary Chinese and Japanese literature and culture, critical theory, film, Asian postsocialism, and Asian American literature. His current book project examines collectivity in transpacific contexts through post-socialism and neoliberal globalization. He holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Asian Studies from Pennsylvania State University (2016), an M.A. from SUNY Binghamton (2010), and a B.A. in Journalism from National Cheng-Chi University (2008).
Dr. Tsen has received the 2024 Laura J. and L. Douglas Meredith Teaching Recognition Award. He teaches advanced Chinese language courses, literature, and film, including CHI 402, LIT 312, and independent studies. He actively contributes to academic service, organizing events like the Chinese Film Series and serving on committees such as the Language Instruction Committee and ASAP Motherboard. His scholarship bridges critical theory with cultural and political analysis, addressing topics like Maoist legacies, necropolitics, and transnational cultural movements.
