معرفی
Roles & Affiliations: Darryl L. Hadsell holds the position of Associate Professor in the Pediatrics-Nutrition Department and Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He is also a member of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. His primary affiliations include the Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) where his office is located (Room CNRC-10072).
Education:
- MS in Dairy Science from South Dakota State University (1987)
- PhD in Animal Science from Pennsylvania State University (1991)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine (1995)
Research Interests: Dr. Hadsell specializes in lactation biology and mammalian genomics. His work spans mammary gland development, lactation mechanisms across species, and genetic approaches to identify genomic loci influencing lactation traits. Notably, he pioneered methods using milk RNA to assess mammary epithelial gene networks in breastfeeding women. His research integrates molecular biology, transgenic models, and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping to explore growth factor signaling, mitochondrial function, and maternal nurturing behaviors.
Collaborative Work & Impact: His studies bridge basic science and clinical applications, including collaborations with clinicians to develop non-invasive biomarkers for lactation health. Recent work focuses on genomic drivers of lactation performance and potential links to human breast cancer risk loci.
Labs & Teams: He is embedded within the Children’s Nutrition Research Center and collaborates with the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, leveraging interdisciplinary teams to advance understanding of mammary gland biology.
