Darren Sanefski is an Associate Professor of Multiple Platform Journalism at the University of Mississippi, affiliated with the School of Journalism and New Media. He holds an M.A. in Art from the State University of New York (2010). His career spans graphic design, academic teaching, and freelance consulting in visual communication. Prior to academia, he worked at The Syracuse Newspapers in roles such as Sports Design Director and Assistant Art Director, and taught at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
His research and teaching focus on visual storytelling, design principles, and multimedia techniques. He has designed award-winning projects for national and international clients, including branding and web development for a news organization in Upstate NY and a national literacy newspaper. He has judged regional, national, and international design competitions and authored Effective Graphic Design, a textbook emphasizing practical design solutions.

Sanefski maintains an active freelance practice, providing design consultation for local and national companies. His expertise bridges traditional print design with digital innovation, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to visual communication.
