Darren Miller

Dr Darren Miller is a Lecturer in the School of Animal and Veterinary Science at the University of Adelaide, within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. His research focuses on veterinary virology, infectious diseases, and immunological responses in livestock and wildlife. He is actively involved in supervising postgraduate students as a co-supervisor for Masters and PhD programs.

Key research interests include:

• Bovine viral pathogens and their role in respiratory disease complexes
• Diagnostic methods for livestock viral infections
• Koala retrovirus (KoRV) epidemiology and vaccinology
• Development of novel drug delivery systems for gastrointestinal applications
• Molecular mechanisms of DNA vaccine efficacy enhancement

Recent work highlights systematic reviews and meta-analyses of bovine viral diseases, including adenovirus, parainfluenza-3 virus, and respiratory syncytial virus. His studies also investigate innovative approaches such as recombinant protein vaccines for wildlife diseases and lentiviral gene transfer in non-human primates.

Dr Miller has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed publications since 2001, with a focus on virology, immunology, and veterinary medicine. His interdisciplinary approach bridges basic science and applied research in animal health.
