Darren Griffith

Dr. Darren Griffith is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). He holds a BSc (2000) and PhD (2004) in Medicinal Chemistry from University College Dublin and RCSI, respectively. His career includes postdoctoral research at Dublin City University (2004–2005) and RCSI (2006–2010), before becoming a Lecturer (2010) and Senior Lecturer (2018). His research focuses on medicinal inorganic chemistry, particularly metal-based complexes for anticancer therapies, enzyme inhibition, antibacterial agents, and antileishmanial treatments.

Grants include SFI-funded projects on gallium formulations (2025), platinum-PROTACs (2022–2027), and targeted cancer therapies. He teaches in medical and pharmacy programs, including the International Medical Commencement Programme and MPharm courses. His work spans 49 publications, emphasizing platinum drug design, metallodrugs, and drug delivery systems.
