Dr. Darlene Piva is an Assistant Professor in the Organizational and Leadership Psychology Department at William James College, where she also serves as Director of the MA in Organizational Psychology program. Her academic background includes a PsyD in Leadership Psychology and Neuroscience of Leadership from William James College, an MA in Organizational Psychology from the same institution, and a BA in Economics from Providence College.
Dr. Piva holds the following academic qualifications:
- PsyD in Leadership Psychology, Neuroscience of Leadership Area of Emphasis, William James College
- MA in Organizational Psychology, William James College
- BA in Economics, Providence College
Her research focuses on the impact of love of humanity and self on leadership styles and workplace culture, neuroscience of leadership, leader-member dynamics, and mindfulness in organizational settings. She explores motivational psychology, including concepts like need for achievement and self-efficacy, as well as positive psychology and appreciative inquiry approaches.
Dr. Piva is a certified Existential Universe Mapper (EUM), Reflexive Lenses Consultant, and holds certifications in instructional design, targeted interviewing, and policy development. She is affiliated with APA Divisions 14 and 13, the Boston Facilitator's Roundtable, and the Association for Talent Development. She has served as OLP Alumni Alliance Chair (2015-2021) and Faculty Liaison (2021-present).
Before her academic role, Dr. Piva held positions such as Training Consultant at The EDCOMM Group, Program Manager at BankBoston, and Organizational Development Consultant at PAREXEL and Global Bankers Institute. She also contributed to the Appreciative Inquiry Cultural Responsiveness Initiative at Justice Resource Institute as an intern.
