Daolin Tang, M.D., Ph.D., is an internationally recognized researcher and Associate Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center's Department of Surgery. His work focuses on molecular mechanisms of disease, particularly pancreatic cancer, and the role of ferroptosis and autophagy in cancer and sepsis. His research has been supported by the NIH and American Cancer Society, earning him awards such as the Hillman Fellow for Innovative Cancer Research and American Cancer Society Research Scholar Award.
Dr. Tang's education includes a medical degree from Norman Bethune College of Medicine and a Ph.D. from Xiangya School of Medicine (China), followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He joined UT Southwestern in 2018.
His research interests span molecular mechanisms of disease, ferroptosis regulation, autophagy pathways, and their implications in cancer therapy and sepsis. His recent publications highlight breakthroughs in ferroptosis-driven therapies, sepsis pathophysiology, and the interplay between inflammation and cell death.
Dr. Tang has authored nearly 200 publications, with a focus on mechanisms of cell death, including seminal work on ferroptosis and its role in cancer and infection. His work bridges basic science and translational medicine, addressing critical challenges in oncology and critical care.
