Danzy Senna

Danzy Senna is a Professor of English at the University of Southern California, renowned for her literary works that critically examine race, class, and gender norms. Her acclaimed novels include Caucasia, Symptomatic, and New People, which have received international recognition and translation into multiple languages.

• Education: M.F.A. in Creative Writing (Fiction) from UC Irvine, B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University

Research Focus: Senna's work spans contemporary fiction, memoir, and literary critique, often interrogating mixed-race identity, cultural hybridity, and social stratification in modern America. Her writing has been honored for its innovative narrative structures and sociopolitical engagement.

Service Contributions: Currently serves as Dean’s Leadership Fellow for the Humanities (2022-2023) and chairs the Undergraduate Studies Committee in the English Department.
