Danna Curcio

Danna Curcio is an Associate Professor in the Nursing department at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York (CUNY). She currently serves as the Assistant Program Coordinator for the Graduate Programs in Nursing, demonstrating her active role in academic leadership and nursing education. Her professional affiliations include Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in Nursing and the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars.

Her research is centered on the emotional and psychological challenges faced by nurses, particularly in pediatric palliative care settings. Key interests include the lived experiences of nurses caring for dying children and developing interventions to reduce workplace stress associated with end-of-life care. Her work contributes significantly to the fields of nursing practice, mental health in healthcare, and compassionate care delivery.

Her recent publications, spanning from 2017 to 2021, demonstrate a strong focus on both clinical nursing practice and innovative nursing education. The articles reflect a dual expertise in patient care and pedagogical development, with themes in obstetric emergencies, quality improvement education, academic program coordination, and the emotional well-being of nurses.

Dr. Curcio has been recognized with the prestigious honor of being inducted as a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. She is also a member of two distinguished honor societies, highlighting her scholarly contributions and international academic engagement.

She has presented her research at local, regional, national, and international conferences and holds a certification as a Maternal-Newborn nurse, reflecting her strong clinical foundation. Her academic journey includes a PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center, which underpins her research and teaching.
